Hi there! My name is Mike Rogers and I founded DogFoodInsider.com in February of 2013. I sure hope you’re enjoying your visit! If you’re here, that means you want to know who you’re getting your information from and what my motive is behind this site. Fair enough… Allow me to explain!
Who Am I?
Probably not who you expect! I am not a dog nutritionist or an expert on dog food. But don’t worry, all of our reviews are written by dog nutrition experts (more on that later). About 5 years ago, I was a long-haul truck driver and during that time, I visited hundreds of food processing plants. I was shocked and appalled at the condition some of these plants were in, how animals were treated before slaughtering, and the deformities I saw in many of the animals (especially chickens). Of course, when I saw this first hand, I decided to do even more research. That is when I realized just how bad our HUMAN food supply has gotten! If you aren’t aware of how awful commercially produced human food is, I highly recommend you watch the documentary Food, Inc. (if you dare). Although, most of you are probably aware by now, at least to some extend, just how contaminated our food supply is with hormones, pesticides, medications, and genetically modified biological materials. And then, one day, it struck me…
If HUMAN food is that bad, what on Earth are they doing to PET FOOD?!
It didn’t take much digging for me to find out just how bad things have gotten. It’s not just bad – it’s REALLY bad. The Melamine recalls in 2007 are proof enough of this fact. We will never know how many cats and dogs were killed during the deadly Melamine recalls, but we do know it’s completely 100% preventable.
My Beef With Commercial Dog Food Companies
Imagine for a moment you are about to get a dog for the very first time. You see a commercial on TV about “the most nutritious” dog food. They claim their food is backed by science, they might tell you “dogs love it!” or “vet approved” or even tell you that their food will allow your dog to live longer. You’re told that it’s chalk full of healthy ingredients, so you decide to give it a try. Sure enough, your dog loves it! For 5 years, you feed your dog this food without any problem at all. Unfortunately, there’s a secret killer in the food. Maybe it’s food coloring linked to cancer or maybe it is extremely high amounts of corn and grain which will lead to skin allergies in your dog… or maybe worse. Thousands of dog owners every year find out their dog died as a direct result of the food they were eating. Not only is it tragic due to the dogs unnatural death, but then the dog owner has to live with the fact they themselves could have prevented the death or illness.
This is a situation that plays out all the time and it has to stop. Dog food companies have put profits ahead of putting the best interests of your dog first. A simple change of ingredients is all it takes. Removing food coloring and dyes, removing chemicals, and replacing harmful “filler ingredients” with ingredients to allow your dog to THRIVE, not just survive. That’s all it takes.
Dog Food Reviews – Expertly Written
Yes, other dog food review websites exist and we highly recommend you check them ALL out. However, I noticed a problem. Most of the dog food reviews found online are created by folks that don’t know anything about dog nutrition. While they have great intentions and their reviews may very well be accurate, I wanted to create a site where EXPERTS would create the reviews. So that’s what I did.
I’ve gone out and assembled a team of people to help me run this website. Everyone who works on this site is an Independent Contractor and they do not earn any revenue based on rating one brand over another. They are paid a flat fee for each review they write. Since they have no connection with this website or to the dog food industry, there is absolutely no conflict. It keeps us unbiased. In addition, every page has a commenting section where anyone can state their opinions about our reviews. Disagree with us? Speak up! We don’t mind!
Does This Website Make Money?
Yes, it does earn some revenue.DogFoodInsider.com is a participant in theAmazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Basically, if you click any Amazon.com link and then make a purchase on Amazon, I earn a small percentage of the revenue generated. It doesn’t matter what you buy and the income generated helps to pay for the expert reviewers, site design, domain registration, hosting, and a slew of other services required to run this site. We also earn revenue from display advertising through Google Adsense.
Please note that I have absolutely no connection with the pet food industry and have no financial incentive to rate any brand over another. All of our reviews are written by 3rd party experts and are completely 100% unbiased.

The more help and exposure we can get, the more visible we will be in the search engines. Dog owners deserve to know about both the good and the bad dog food brands that exist. Your help could literally help save a dogs life, so please share!

If your dog is not eating, but drink lots of water and maybe eating grass, to help him/her take the dog for walks every day 1/2 mile at first and then up to a mile a few days later. Also check their stool for warms. Dog sitting? the dog is missing the owner and can’t understand why their missing. Remember, a dog is like a child and they are family also.
